PostSubject: PUNG! huli ka!......ikaw ang taya!   Sat Sep 20, 2008 8:51 am

Bro. Larry,

Sabi nga..."You can RUN...but you cannot HIDE"

PostSubject: THOSE WERE THE GOOD 'OLE DAYS!!!

Siga talaga ang 'dating' ko noh ... no wonder itinapon ako sa pinakatutong na section (second to the last ...

Crush ko talaga yang teacher namin sa Physics, saka she talk me into going to college to take up Engineering.

Graduation Day circa 1977!!! Again, second to the last section na umakyat ng stage ...

Nagkahiwa-hiwalay tayo after the First 2 years natin. Tinanggap ko naman after a while kasi nga - I really like Practical Arts (Vocational). Nagamit ko naman lahat ng natutunan ko dun in my everyday life ... like Woodworking, Metal Shop, Radio Electronics at Automotive. It saves me money and the great feeling of self fullfilment na naayos ko. Also, like I mentioned before - I found my true self nung mapawalay ako sa inyo nuon. Come what may 'ika nga.

PostSubject: Trifee's Mini Stories - Part I   Sat Sep 20, 2008 11:07 am

Saturday, 20 Sep 2008, 6:18am
Centreville, VA, 20121 USA
Good Morning Classmates!

This is your Dj, alias Michael Jackson, calling from outer space!

I fell asleep early last night while watching the movie, Red Heat by Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Balushi ... you know: one of the VHS movies I bought from the Trift Store for $1 which I watch using my mini-entertainment system I bought from the garage sale for $11.50 (TV+VCR+DvdPlayer).

Hence, I woke up early: at 4:00am. I had some early morning hot coffee with 3 bread slices with margarine which taste like butter. While listening to Rene Sta Cruz and Bay Hugot Muna of DZBB radio station over the Internet, continued on my programming my latest project at work: vCard 'business cards with Outlook interfacing with our customized software. I try not to do work during non-working hours but I simply cannot help. To me, programming is just like playing chess ... perhaps, even better. I am very much facinated with the endless posibilities of today's technology.

Of course, I visited our to sites: Kumustahan and Kapitan, hungry for messages from my beloved batchmates. Indeed: stories, pictures, happenings, and everything in our sites make me miss the younger days when we were still young and not knowing what lies ahead.

Every working day, on my way to work ... from Centreville, VA (which is part of Fairfax county), I drive the Inter-State 66 East and Inter-State 495 North hi-ways towards Baltimore/Washington ... I listen to Filipino mp3 songs in the midst of traffic jam and I strongly feel the very big part of me that is pure, genuine Filipino!

In my thoughts, the past that I have been through. The young boy that I was. My father, my mother, my brother, my sister. The so many apartment units in Manila where we have moved. The early morning smell of Manila and its soothing breeze against my skin. There I see myself: the young little boy that I was: arriving home from Rafael Palma Elementary School. There I see my father with his friend. They may have drank liquor a little too much. There, my father crying. His friend ask: "What's wrong? Why are you crying?" He points to me and responds to his friend, "my children: they study well. they even run for honors in school and me ... all I need to do is to provide them with the material things they need in school ... even just the basics and I am unable!"

Well, just a small piece of memory on my mind. The challenge of poverty! The strong desire of poor Filipino parents to give the best education possible for their children. The love that parents can give to their children cannot equal any material treasure.

I miss the younger days. Most especially, the high school days. I have so many stories to tell. And I am saying to myself: as a writer, I should write them all. Perhaps to recall, to recollect, to feel the stuggles and the pain again if they could only bring back the chance to touch my father, my mother, and my brother again.

The poet and the writer in me are alive again and I wish to share more of my stories ...

PostSubject: THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTION YOU SENT US TRIFEE...   Sat Sep 20, 2008 12:16 pm

Suggestions ...Saturday, September 20, 2008 8:00 AM
From: This sender is DomainKeys verified "TRIFEE MIACO" <trifee@yahoo.com>View contact details To: rrp_mlrp@hotmail.com, jo_leyba@yahoo.com, larry_ptan@yahoo.comHello

Jo, Letty, and Larry! I wish to suggest the following for the AHS Batch 1977 Election of Officers 1. The candidate for President or the supreme leader should
lay down in black and white the projects
he or she intends to accomplish for the year's term: For example:
a. Sponsor singing contest for AHS Manila students
( Nov - Dec 2008 )
Category: Outreach - AHS Manla students b. Christmas Party ( Dec 2008 )
Category: Social Event c. Livelihood training for our less-fortunate batchmates
( Jan - Mar 2009 )
Category: Outreach - fellow batchmates d. Religious Outreach event ( Apr - May 2009 )
Category: Outreach Spiritual - fellow batchmates 2. Somehow, the voters should know who are the candidates and a
little of their individual profiles and posted on our sites 3. That for every project, a monthly progress report on our sites
( report dates: to be announced in our sites in advance ) 4. That upon completion of any project event
( within 5 days after the event, a full detailed financial
report be published on our sites ) We can add to these list as we go on.Thanks.Long live AHS Batch 1977

TRIFEE IS A PERFECT PORTRAIT OF WHAT AN ALUMNI ASSOCIATION IS ABOUT, HE'S THE FIRST TO SEND A BOX DONATION TO ARAULLO HIGH SCHOOL. ITO ANG CONCERN NG TUNAY NA ESSENCE NG SCHOOL BATCH ALUMNI ASSOCIATION.

Si Mr. Trifelino Miaco ay ang isang taong larawan ng AHS Batch 1977 Alumni Association, WE SALUTE YOU HERE IN FORUMOTION. KUDOS TRIFEE!!! Pray for Thelma, Ehlee, Jun Papa, Manny Cortez, and Freddie Nicdao na sila ang gamitin para sa isang pagkakaisang hangad natin noon pa!!!

TAKE NOTE FUTURE OFFICERS!

PostSubject: Just checking...   Sat Sep 20, 2008 1:00 pm

Sabi ko week-end rest na muna ako. Pero nagkaron ng chance so I'm visiting for a while. Hayaan nyo my friends, officer or not, I will post my draft of the Code of Conduct (english and tagalog) late next week both in QT and in FM for everybody's comments. Everybody is welcome to critic, revise, enhance or even recommend to totally trash it. Once we get everybody's comments, we will refine and agree to observe our guiding principles in the interim...at least to give time to the new set of officers to ratify and integrate it in the new by-laws of the alumni association. In defference to the incumbent President Val Barroga, I will ensure that I keep him in the loop.

Cheers!

PostSubject: A Quest For A New Beginning   Sat Sep 20, 2008 4:15 pm

AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL AHS BATCHMATES 1977

THEME : A NEW BEGINNING
OBJECTIVE :
To come-up with a better understanding of unity and reconciliation and thereby eliminate divisiveness among the batchmates.

PROBLEM SITUATION :

The rift that causes the split within the ranks of batchmates ahs 1977 is very unfortunate. It is perhaps only in our batch that this mess really happened. I am sorry to inform you that all batchmates are very disappointed with this. Therefore, I agree with teacher Larry and perhaps all the batchamates that echo’s this sentiments……

IT'S ABOUT TIME NEW OFFICERS NA MA-ELECT TO CHANGE THE IMAGE OF AHS BATCH 1977 ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, A TOTAL REVAMP IS A MUST!

==============================================

THE QUEST FOR A NEW BEGINNING

Written by James Duncan
Sept 20,2008 Doha, Qatar

“A NEW BEGINNING” as the theme suggested is a very sound idea to make way for a possible reconciliation to all batchmates of AHS 1977 graduates. But we have to confront this idea to put into reality so that we could expect a positive result. This, if happen will definitely benefit our very own alma mater, our loving Araullo High School.

Therefore, How do we impart “A NEW BEGINNING” as the theme implies?

The code of ethical standard which was written and proposed by our very own Thelma Pena Meneses is milestone step to begin with. In any organization, the key to a successful organization is “DISCPLINE”. Without discipline and the code of ethical standard that we follow, the whole member in the organization will surely fall in disarray.

What happened in the past is irrational at this point in time because confrontation is a loose-loose situation. Pointing fingers at each other and blaming offenders while they themselves are not keen to accept the mistake will only aggravate the situation. This will only end up in total misery to the reconciliation that we dream of. Everybody will become a part of the misery. Therefore, history will judge on us and no one will be blamed except ourselves.

When “A NEW BEGINNING” unfolds in the future and a new set of officers are elected, I suggest to create a book of ethical standard with which to follow in order to avoid confrontation and thereby set-up a good example of discipline. Each members and officers will be guided through this book, a copy of which will be furnished them. From there, we can open up freely new ideas and improvement plans that will cater to the benefit of AHS and all batchmates as well.

A leader of the organization must stand by what is best for everybody and not what can cause divisiveness. He or she must be able to delegate the right amount of leadership whereby all member officers should abide strictly. Any situation that requires stringent amount of decision making must be confronted with close door group meetings where transparency is expected to be the key to resolving a particular problem situation. What do we mean therefore by transparency?

What happened in the past is an example of problem situation that we don’t want to replicate in the future. The key to this is transparency in all undertakings. A win-win situation that will showcase our guts to adhere no matter what. Meaning,

· Avoid bad confrontation,

· Avoid heated argument,

· Avoid unpleasant remarks that will offend others.

· Create a peaceful settlement to resolve a conflict.

· Respect each others opinion, the key to successful inter-relationship.

· Set a common goal which is for the benefit of all the members.

· Put into writing whatever has been achieved and agreed upon.

The crucial stage in any organization is long lasting patience and humility. In any good thing that we work on to preserve the dignity of the organization, there are still others who are blinded by the false accusations and insinuations that only create and stir disunity. They whip unsavory remarks to people they dislike which ultimately led to misunderstandings. Let us try to be patient with this kind of situation. Practice humility too so that we can build a strong foundation worthy of emulation. Besides our main objective is only for the betterment of our organization.

As we go on in improving our organization, we should come-up with set of project plans that not only will benefit our alma mater but ourselves in general. And what are these plans for example?

  • Come-up with a benefit foundation and or any education benefit program that will enrich the minds of our children and the children of our children.
  • Build bridges to those who are far-off places so that we can enlighten them and help in their hour of grief away from their loved one.
  • Help our members who are in need of medical support in their dying needs.
  • Search and help our old batchmates who have gone astray and never recovered.
  • Console those who lost their loved ones’ and even offer compensation.
  • Think of how we can avail of a good financial reward such as sponsor a concert for the benefit of this and that…
  • And when we have enough financial resources, donate a set of musical instrument for AHS to put up for their own AHS school band.
  • Or to put more bluntly, construct a waiting shed or renovate anything in AHS that needs immediate action.

Look at a very good example of my dear friend Triffy Miaco where he donated a set of computer in AHS without receiving any reward at all. We also have to recognize this kind of people who in one way or another has contributed himself voluntarily. We should give credit to this people and give them a plaque of appreciation for his personal gesture of humility and kind hearted ways.

My dear friends, these are just an example of project plans and ideas that we can share instead of dividing our time to fruitless confrontation. Remember our days in high school where we enjoyed our time with classmates and friends. We all left Araullo High School in the midst of anxiety as to what would happen to us in the future. It has been 31 years ago that we are just a young kid then. Not knowing what the future holds for us. And now here we are, all parents and mature person, yet we have not learned the moral values of friendship and inter-personal relationship. Let us unite one’s and for all for the sake of our alma mater. I know some of us have reached the ladder peak of their successful career. The lifestyles and attitude have changed significantly. Amidst these changes are the questions of your inner personality,

· How do you feel when others you trust have betrayed you because of your bad attitudes?

· How do you feel when somebody told you that you are not worth to be a member of this alumni association because of your bad attitude?

· How do you feel when you have been criticized by your own close friends before and is now telling bad things against you?

Things have changed and everything in this world have changed too. But when everything changes, you personality also changes. But alas…. I love changes but only if I see changes that can uplift the moral and spiritual upbringing of a person. A change that will embolden others to emulate you………because you deserve respect. And that is YOU !!
====================================================

Hello dear batchmates,

I WANT TO SHARE THIS ANNOUNCEMENT DIN PO...

===========================================================

The centennial celebration (100yrs old) of the founding of University of the Philippines will be celebrated September 24 till September 26, 2008. The celebration will be held in all UP branches nationwide. One celebration of which will be held in UP Los Banos Music Hall. Anybody amongst our batchmates here who are invited to grace the occasion in UP Los Banos should come and witness the culmination of a grand celebration of one of the greatest University in the world.

I am happy to inform you that my 13 year old daughter Charisse F. Dungca will be among the chosen student to perform in the celebration. She will render a song and dance number. PostSubject: Hot Topics   Sat Sep 20, 2008 9:18 pm

Hi all,

Mahirap pala ang nawawala ng matagal. Nagkanduduling na ko ng pagbasa mula page 21-28! Whew! Ang init ng mga topics. Before I give my "two cents" worth of personal opinion, eto muna to each & everyone of you:

Larry: Wow! It is now very colorful, more pleasing to the eye, makes me smile a lot, new pics, & most of all I like the step by step instructions on how to post here. I have to ask my son to now put our site into my Favorites, as I am afraid that I may mess -up again. At saka since the class is every Mon & Wed. night, from 7-9:30 pn & we arrive almost 10 pm na, on those days , hindi na ako nakaka-pag computer. By the way, sino ang nasa Sunnyvale, CA? na sumisilip dito? Let it be a warning for them, so that they will know that "our" eyes are on them. Can you delete that?

Hindi ko na uli nagawa iyon, ang 1st & last time was w/ you, noon.

Jimmy: Thank you for reminding me to read the postings here, tama ka, masyado na maraming posting, marami na akong na -miss.

I am so FRUSTRATED ! Hindi ko alam kung mag-gi-give-up na lang ako & accept the fact that "this computer thing" is not for me, pero, on the other hand, HINDI ito ang personality ko, I am always an achiever & always aim for the top & the best. So, eto, still struggling here. Thank you din sa step by step tutorial mo. I liked it because you are so meticulous & specific, even to say: left click here, click there, etc. Thanks again, but I haven't practiced on it yet. Also thank you for also making our Kapihan site a very nice & pleasant place to unwind & relax.

Manny Cortez: Salamat naman at hindi mo nakalimutang bigyan ng recognition ang pangalan ko na nanggaling sa akin ang phrase na " A New Beginning" Honestly, when I posted that sa QT, ikaw ang unang-una na nag acknowledge sa akin, besides na rin kay Jo. Hindi na ako nag post doon since then. I do have a question regarding this so called BAtch Reunion : Is this a Batch Reunion or just a get together party by a few of you guys in the Phils? If this is indeed a Batch Reunion, then how come that it was not mentioned months ago that there was one in the process? The first time I believe that I heard about this was last August? The people that are involved for setting up this reunion should take into consideration that there may be other Global batchmates that may want to attend & come to the reunion? So, is this another just get together party for you guys? A batch Reunion should have "proper Planning" & really try to get in touch w/ others, & not just the ones that they already know. Also, sana wala magka-kandidato sa reunion, that is not the right time & place to do that.

Now, I think I am ready now to give my personal oipnions:

First & foremost: Yes, I give credit to Jo Leyba for starting to have a way of getting us batchmates together by creating QT Kamustahan. She was the one, in fact that found me here in CA through the internet. I give a lot of credit for that as it if was not because of her, I would not have met all of you guys here, now. Eventhough I have met some of you during last year's reunion, we may not have continued our communication till now. It was just unfortunate that as the QT Kamustahan was growing in member number, sad to say that some "members" there DO NOT have the "tactfulness, the finesse, the proper manners & decorum, befitting a "so-called" professional & educated adult. I know that most of us continued on to college & earned a Degree. But it seems that some display their personality & breeding through their actions. I personally look at a persons' actions, the ways he or she conveys him or herself in a converation, the way she or he projects herself through intelligent conversations, the words the he or she uses., & even body language. There were also some that they cannot "keep" their hands to themselves, nag- cha-chancing. Ang sarap bigwasan!! I admire a person who does not divulge or tell people what accomplishments they have achieved, what he/she owns, what car she/he drives, how many houses she owns, etc. Ayaw ko nang mayabang. Sometimes others are "mayabang" kahit hindi mo naman tinatanong. Kung tinanong ko, ok, sagutin mo, pero yung magsabi na may ganito ako, may ganoon ako, nayayabangan ako. These are the things that I don't find interesting in people. So, if I find these in a person, I tend to "distance" myself as what I did in Kamustahan. Once I started reading some mesaages/ posting of others that have no "worth" I thought that these people probably have ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER. Gusto sigurong mapansin, but not realizing na yes.... napapansin nga sila but in a very derogatory way. Noong nandoon pa ako sa Kamustahan, yung ibang"girls" doon, sila-sila lang ang nagkakamustahan, walang bumabati sa akin kahit binabati ko sila. Ang binabati nila, yung mga kakilala lang nila. Ang feeling ko, na isnab ako doon. Si Jo lang talaga ang bumabati sa akin doon at si Letty noong nandoon pa siya. Tapos ayun na nga, hindi na maganda ang mga postings, umalis na akong tuluyan.

After we left, Larry, Letty & I, Larry started QT Kapihan. We were doing well doon.

Tungkol naman sa Forgiveness: This is what I believe in: Yes, it is true that a true Christian should forgive & forget. But that is... depending whether the "offending" party has even ASKED for forgiveness. I have my own personal "beef" in the past in QT Kamustahan w/ 2 female members there. We were supposed to all meet in Las Vegas. Jun & I have asked & have taken off vacation, planned to drive 12 hours one way just to meet these 2 people. Then at the last minute, one of them called me up wanting to change plans on the very morning that we were about to drive our 12 hours. The luggages were already in the car that morning. How would you feel if this happened to you? Anyway, mahaba pa ang istorya, but to cut the story short, no one aplogized for what they did to us. Some people sided w/ them , kasi sa QT Kamustahan sila, ako naman at that time, feeling ko si Letty lang ang nakakaintindi sa galit ko. One person, apologized to me after "3 months" & the other, until now, hindi pa, & it will be a year na. Nagpo-post pa rin itong 2nd person doon. Since the other one apologized, we have reconciled already. Forgive & forget na. The other, one, go to.... I heard that she has a miserable life. Remember what I told you ka Larry? I bet you those people are not "happy" in their lives. because they create & surround themselves in " negative energy".

Ito lang ang gusto kong sabihin, lalo na kay Manny C., it will be hard to Fogive if NO ONE is even ASKING for Forgiveness. If you don't ask for forgiveness, you will not be forgiven.

I disagree w/ that. I feel that just by acknowledging HOW the missing money was lost is not enough. Why did she not explain before that the money was missing? Why did she only explained when someone asked for it? I think that whoever was responsible in safe-keeping the money, whether you lost it, used it, or so-called na is-lash, kailangang ibalik ang pera sa Batch.

Again I can see & perceive people though their postings & intelligent writings, isa ka ring maginoo, kagaya ni Larry na hindi nag papa-api at parating tumatayo at itinatayo kung ano ang TAMA at NARARAPAT.
