PostSubject: Good day batchmates!   WELCOME AHS77 STARBATCH KAPIHAN ADDICTS... - Page 26 Icon_minitimeFri Mar 07, 2008 8:19 pm

Hello to all of you!

Trifee -> it's nice to know that you're back na sa you're normal working condition, after your pressured chess tournament. Thanks for your sharing the youtube link of "Salamat 70's" na tamang-tama at kapanahunan natin because we all belong to batch '77. I remember those solo/group singers & their songs as well. It's really relaxing to reminisce our past with matching songs pa

Prislette -> how are you my dear friend? Hope you're feeling better na, yun nga lang I can't do anything physical to help/assist you about your mom's situation. Noted the results of your brod & sister-in-law's visit sa different institutions with regards to your mom's needs. Then, it will still take some time pa rin pala for you to bring home dito sa Pinas your mom because of her missing/lost important documents & it matagal din pala before you can acquire for her, aside pa sa mga expenses attached to it. Prislette, talagang you will be affected physically, emotionally & mentally sa present situation of your mom, lalo pa nga at pareho kayong nagwo-work ni Jun & your kids naman ay napasok din regularly sa school nila, at walang maiiwanan sa bahay na makakasama nga your mom. But rest assured that you & your whole family are with my prayers. Be strong & watch your health too for your family. Extra ingat na lang kapag maiiwan your mom alone sa bahay ninyo

Thelma -> hi to you! I was touched by your message to Prislette because all you've said were coming from a heart of an ideal daughter, hindi rin naging madali ang mga pinagdaanan mo about your dad. But for sure your dad is at peace now wherever he is, because you've been a very good, supportive, loving & caring daughter & being the eldest sa inyong magkakapatid, for sure they are admiring you a lot & they're lucky to have you

Just a thought: "By friendship, we mean the greatest love, the greatest usefulness, the most open communication, the noblest sufferings, the severest truth, the heartiest counsel, and the greatest union of minds of which brave men & women are capable." Warm regards to all of you my dear batchmates & friends, too! Razz Razz

ISIGAW MO SA LANGIT

by Larry Tan

I. Ngayon ba'y parang kulang ka
Luha'y lumilimot,
Damdami'y sumusuko
Gusto mo nang huminto
Bukas ay ayaw na,
Wala na kasing pag-asa
Tulad mo ako noon...
Alipin ng kahapon!!!!

KORO:
Isigaw mo sa langit
Isigaw mo hanggang langit
Sapagka't tanging sa Dios ka lang
Mayroong pag-asa....

II. 'Wag mong ibulong sa'yong kapwa,
Wala din silang magagawa
Hindi sa lahat ng panahon
Sila'y karamay mo;
'Di tulad ni Kristo
Na Siyang nasa puso mo
Ngayong panalangin lang
Ang naglalayo sa'yo.....

Isigaw mo sa langit
Isigaw mo hanggang langit....

Tulay:
Gaano mang kabigat, tiisin mo
Pagsubok lang na sa oras
Na mapagtagumpayan mo
Gagamitin ka naman sa iba...
Tulad mo ako sayo ngayon.

KORO:
Isigaw mo sa langit
Isigaw mo hanggang langit
Sapagka't tanging sa Dios ka lang
Mayroong pag-asa.... (Kaibigan!)

[3] Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
[4] Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
[5] For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
[6] And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
[7] And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
[8] For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
[9] But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
[10] Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;
[11] Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.
[12] For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.

MINSAN NAGTATAKA AKO, BAKIT ANG MGA RELIHIYON HINDI HINIHINTAY SI LORD, KUNG NANGAKO SI HESUS MISMO SA BIBLE NA BABALIK SIYA, ANG LINAW AT ITO ANG BLESSED HOPE NATIN SA LUPA....

LET'S LISTEN....

I CORINTHIAN 15:
[51] Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all DIE (sleep), but we shall all be changed,
[52] In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

I THESSALONIANS 4:
[13] But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
[14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
[15] For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
[16] For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
[17] Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
[18] Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

ACTS 1:
[9] And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
[10] And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
[11] Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
[12] Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.

EVEN CHRIST PROMISED IT IN JOHN 14:
[1] Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
[2] In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
[3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
[4] And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

Revelations 22:7: "Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book."

ONLY PEOPLE WITH A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD JESUS CHRIST TRULY HAS A PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE FROM HIS WORD ABOUT HIS COMING.... ROM. 10:8, 9,10: "But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." I AM JUST BOTHERED COZ PEOPLE WHO'S GOT RELIGION AND NOT A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP IS UNAWARE THAT THE SIGNS OF THE TIMES IN BIBLICAL PROPHECIES ARE AT THE DOORS ALREADY. THEY DO NOT EVEN KNOW WHAT RAPTURE IS OR CHRIST'S IMMINENT RETURN? CHRIST IS COMING SOON, THE BIBLE IS CLEAR, WHY DO RELIGIONS NOT PREACH IT, I WONDER!!!!!

PostSubject: Thanks Letz, salamat talaga....   WELCOME AHS77 STARBATCH KAPIHAN ADDICTS... - Page 26 Icon_minitimeWed Mar 12, 2008 4:42 am

Oo kaw muna hane? Good you appreciate the pics, do promise you will always be here. Thanks for understanding.

Here's something for our health, worth reading tlga!

DON'T EAT TOO MUCH RICE
The human body was never meant to consume rice! You see, our genes have hardly changed in more than 30,000 years. However, our food choices and lifestyle have changed dramatically. The caveman would hardly recognize our food or way of life.

Caveman food was never cooked as fire was not yet tamed. Thus, he ate only those foods that he can eat without treatment with or by fire. He ate fruits, vegetables, fish (sushi anyone?), eggs, nuts and meat. Yes, even meat. You can even eat meat raw if you were starving in the forest. You have the necessary enzymes to digest meat.

However, rice - like wheat and corn - cannot be eaten raw. It must be cooked. Even if you were starving in the desert, you cannot eat rice in the raw form. This is because we do not have the system of enzymes to break rice down. We were never meant to eat rice. To make matters worse, we not only eat rice, but also make it the bulk of our food.

In some parts of Asia, rice forms up to 85% of the plate. Even if we take rice, let's keep it to a minimum. Remember, it is only for our tongue... not our body. Actually, rice and other grains like wheat and corn are actually worse than sugar. There are many reasons:

Rice becomes sugar - lots of it!

This is a fact that no nutritionist can deny: rice is chemically no different from sugar. One bowl of cooked rice is the caloric equivalent of 10 teaspoons of sugar. This does not matter whether the rice is white, brown or herbal rice.
Brown rice is richer in fiber, some B vitamins and minerals... but it is still the caloric equal of 10 teaspoons of sugar. To get the same 10 teaspoons of sugar, we need to consume lots of kangkong... 10 bowls of it.

Rice is digested to become sugar.

Rice can be digested only when it is thoroughly cooked. However, when thoroughly cooked, it becomes sugar and spikes circulating blood sugar within half an hour... almost as quickly as it would if we took a sugar candy. Rice is very low in the "rainbow of anti-oxidants" .

This complete anti-oxidant rainbow is necessary for the effective and safe utilization of sugar. Fruits come with a sugar called fructose. However, they are not empty calories as the fruit is packed with a whole host of other nutrients that help its proper assimilation and digestion.

Rice has no fiber.

The fiber of the kangkong fills us up long before our
blood sugar spikes. This is because the fiber bulks and fills up our stomach. Since white rice has no fiber, we end up eating lots of "calorie dense" food before we get filled up. Brown rice has more fiber but still contains the same amount of sugar.

Rice is tasteless.

Sugar is sweet. There is only so much that we can eat at one sitting. How many teaspoons of sugar can we eat before we feel like throwing up? Could you imagine eating 10 teaspoons of sugar in one seating?

Rice is always the main part of the meal.

While sugar may fill our dessert or sweeten our coffee, it will never be the main part of any meal. We could eat maybe two to three teaspoons of sugar at one meal. However, we could easily eat the equal value of two to three bowls (20 - 30 teaspoons) of sugar in one meal. I am always amused when I see someone eat sometimes five bowls of rice (equals 50 teaspoons of sugar) and then asks for tea or coffee without sugar!

There is no real "built in" mechanism for us to prevent overeating of rice.

How much kangkong can we eat? How much fried chicken? How much steamed fish? Think about that! In one seating, we cannot take lots of chicken, fish or cucumber, but we can take lots of rice. Eating rice causes us to eat more salt.

As rice is tasteless, we tend to consume more salt... another villain when it comes to high blood pressure control. We tend to take more curry that has salt to help flavor the rice. We also tend to consume more ketchup and soy sauce which are also rich in salt.

Eating rice causes us to drink less water.

The more rice we eat, the less water we will drink as there is no mechanism to prevent the overeating of rice. Rice, wheat and corn come hidden in our daily food. As rice is tasteless, it tends to end up in other foods that serve as rice substitutes. .. like rice flour, noodles and bread. We tend to eat the hidden forms which still get digested into sugar. Rice, even when cooked, is difficult to digest.

Can't eat raw rice? Try eating rice half cooked. Contrary to popular belief, rice is very difficult to digest. It is "heavy stuff". If you have problems with digestion, try skipping rice for a few days. You will be amazed at how the problem will just go away.

Rice prevents the absorption of several vitamins and minerals.

Rice when taken in bulk will reduce the absorption of vital nutrients like zinc, iron and the B vitamins.

Are you a rice addict?

Going rice less may not be easy, but we can still go rice less. Eating less rice could be a lot easier than we think. Here are some strategies that we can pursue in our quest to eat less rice:

1. Eat less rice - Cut your rice by half.
Barry Sears, author of the Zone Diet, advises "eating rice like spice". Instead, increase your fruits & vegetables intake.

2. Take more lean meats and fish.

3. You can even take more eggs and nuts.
Have "rice less" meals. Take no rice or wheat at say, breakfast. Go for eggs instead.

4. Go on "rice less" days
- Go "western" once a week. Take no rice and breads for one day every week! That can't be too difficult. Appreciate the richness of your food. Go for taste, colors and smells. Make eating a culinary delight. Enjoy your food in the original flavors.

5. Avoid the salt shaker or ketchup. You will automatically eat less rice.

6. Eat your fruit dessert
before(Yes! No printing error) your meals . The fiber-rich fruits will "bulk up" in your stomach! Thus, you will eat less rice and more fruits.

************ ********* ********* ********* ********* ********* *********
OUR WATER AFTER EACH MEAL

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It says it is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed.
It will slow down the digestion. Once this "sludge" reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine!
Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer.
It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

Larry, don't stress yourself to much and we're worried about you. Ayoko lang masyadong magtanong coz' I know that you're busy with your church and so fort....I'm sure your mom in law will recover safely and nicely....believe me, you're not the only one...kung si Prislette is having a nervous breakdown with her mom...same with me..If you think about it will happen to us one day or to anyone na meron pang mga parents ...kaya nga medyo ingat ako ngayon sa parents ko...dahil they're becoming fragile, sensitive and sometimes they'll get on your nerves. Kaya I just take easy and take it one day at the time. I don't like to mention it here lalu ako na-d-depress...pero ganun siguro talaga. We'll be able to make it thru no matter what dahil life is complicated at ang sabi nila and its too short...kaya make the best out of it...

sige ingat lang ang pray for the best...

Letty...kamusta na...and all the batchmates of the forumotion..

regards to all

Everybody’s in touch!!!
Hello again, to all of you dear batchmates! Good to hear that everybody is in touch…. cheers

Mathel, glad to hear that you are able to share your experience with Prislette. You're a true friend. Mahirap talaga ang kalagayan niya. I just could imagine her stress, but of course could not let go because of her love for her mom.

Prislette, hang on dear friend, as all the sharings here and messages that we all would like to impart to you… you are not alone….be strong…. do not forget to talk to our God, He is a good provider, I can vouch for that.

Been sick again…. but am back to recovery… it took me almost a five days…. now absent pa rin ako sa office to completely rest.

Letty, thanks for all the wonderful and meaningful messages that you are sending, though I may not be able to respond rest assured that I really appreciate your thoughfulness. Please send my regards to Roel.

Larry, we all missed you…. glad you are back in circulation….there are trying times in our life that make us wonder what is really important in life, is it life itself? The people that we love? The tangible things that we were able to enjoy?.... when trials come… the best option to take is to hang on to our Lord, as you tried to explain… it is not what we make for a living but how we live our life and whatt we make out of our life’s experiences to honor and love HIM that matters most…. Very Happy

D’PANOTS, I was able to search in the net a certain Alvin Agpalza, I made him an email, kasi I remember that this is name is one of the names of Alice’s (Yogee’s) son. Hopefully he responds so I could introduce our forum to Alice. Very Happy

To all my other batchmates, keep the messages coming…. it keeps our bond of friendship…. Regards to everybody and do take care.

A pleasant day to all of you my dear batchmates!

Larry -> how are you nowadays my good friend? Hope you're doing fine, as well as your loved ones, esp. your mom-in-law. Thanks for sharing to us also some very informative tips about eating rice. As what I've told you Larry, we (your batchmates) are all here for you & for everybody in this forumotion. This is one way where we could get in touch directly & be a part na rin of each other's life di ba? Reading/posting here makes my day happy & relaxing. Imagine, kahit nasaang part ng mundo our batchmates, dito lahat tayo nagmi-meet, wherein we can share anything under the sun or under the moon & we can't help to have a smile on our faces kapag we're here in our forumotion. For sure, our prayers are always with your lalo pa nga na ang dami mong iniintindi at iniisip. Anyhow, your strong faith in God will surely be in your heart & it will keep you moving on. Watch your health always, too ha! Razz

Jaime -> hi to you! Nice to read your message here today. How are you na & you know I am one of those children that when it comes to our parents, all out ang love, respect, understanding & support/assistance (spiritually, physically, morally etc...). Eventhough I have my own family, still our parents ay palagi pa ring magiging part of our lives, dahil sila ang nagbigay buhay sa atin & the unconditional love that they gave & still giving to us, aside from the fact how they mold us to become what we are now, di ba? Kaya nga, whatever happens, we will always be there for them & give our best lagi. Hope your parents are ok & comfortable with you at their side lagi. Your being jolly, for sure will make your parents smile palagi, kasi as far as I can remember since our grade school & high school days, ay masayahin kang tao & I hope upto now! Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz

Nanette -> hello & how are you doing now? Hope you feel better na & take your time to rest para hindi mabinat. Nice to read again your message here na purely coming from your heart as batchmate & friend. Sana nga that one of these days ay makatanggap ka ng news from Alice (isa pa rin sa mga D'Panots) para makumpleto na kayo & to hear from her na rin. Thanks at makakarating your regards to Roel. Our warm regards to you too! I know you're a busy working mom, kaya ok lang if you don't respond on my forwarded e-mail, at least alam natin na nandito lang tayo lahat & kapag libre ang time, we get in touch naman, kaya nga it's really a big thing to have this forumotion. Kaya, thanks to you Larry for making this forumotion exists

Bro. LARRY>>>Nice to hear you're well and doing fine. Keep the fires burning my friend. I sympathize on what you feel right now, however you are not alone on this predicament as you know all of us have a mission in this world.

Maybe we accomplish in our lifetime only a tiny fraction of God’s work. Nothing we do is complete. We simply plant the seeds that one day will grow. We cannot do everything. But this enables us to do something, and to do it very well.

It maybe incomplete, But it is an opportunity for the Lord’s grace to enter and do the rest. We are workers, not master builders, servant-leaders, not messiahs. We are prophets of a future not our own.”

Dearest friends,

I'm back!! It has been a hectic, very stressful last few months for myself & thewhole family. Again, I would like to thank all of you who have given me suggestions, they were all considered & looked into. I even have my brother & sister in law check it out there in the Phils.

I have now placed my mom in a nursing home here. It was a very tough decision for me but I have to consider her own welfare & safety, as she cannot be left alone already, not to mention also our safety as she may cause some accidental fire here at home. At least, she is being taken cared of 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are still responsible for bringing her to her doctor's appointments. She needs total attention, cannot be left alone & has to take her medications. Last week that I visited her, it broke my heart to see her run after me as I got out of the door, then I saw her waving goodbye & it seems that she was about to cry. I just have to turn my back & walk to my car right away. It was not until now that my mom has Dementia & Alzheimer's that I have come to the reality of the severity of this disabling ailment; not to mention that it has no cure & that the condition just deteriorates. At times, it crosses my mind that it can also happen to me or to any of my siblings or children. It is so scary. I just need to update you all as you all have given me advice & consolation.

Larry: Nice to have you back. You did not mention what happened to your in-laws., or did I just missed it. You are not alone, I am having the same problem now. I liked the pic that has your back to the camera. It has a meaning, as is you are too engrossed in contemplation.

Freddie: Nice pictures, too. I can't seem to separate the Pinoys from the Indonesians, we all look alike. Great that you can be w/ your family often.

Letty: Hello my dear, sorry haven't gotten in touch lately. I have seen your forwarded e-mails,but haven't opened them up. No time & no energy. I am just starting to get back to routine. I need to have a break, I need a vacation. How's Roel?

Ramir: Great! At last I have seen your latest pic! I still remember you the way you looked 30 years ago. How's Dubai? Are your family all w/ you? Thanks again for the advice, my brod & sis in law went there, pero na sermunan sila doon, kagaya din noong nagpunta sila sa Golden Acres.

D'Panots, Thelma & Nanette: Hello there girls! Pasensiya na kayo . I haven't had the time to get in touch. Got too stressed out kasi. Saka na lang ako babawi. Pag - igihan ninyo ang paghanap kay Yogee. Kailangang may grand reunion tayo!

Regards to all,
Prislette I love you

A blessed Good Friday to everyone, thanks for the words of comfort brethren!!! Prislette somehow by the grace of God we begin to put back the pieces to order, and I am confident the Lord is always there for all of us. Thanks for all the pics you shared BroSis!!!!

LET ME SHARE THIS TO ALL OF YOU:

Breakfast at McDonald ' s

This is a good story and is true, please read it all the way through until
the end! (After the story, there are some very interesting facts!):

I am a mother of three (ages 14, 12, 3) and have recently completed my
college degree.
The last class I had to take was Sociology.

The teacher was absolutely inspiring with the qualities that I wish every
human being had been graced with.

Her last project of the term was called, ' Smile. '

The class was asked to go out and smile at three people and document their
reactions.

I am a very friendly person and always smile at everyone and say hello
anyway. So, I thought this would be a piece of cake, literally.

Soon after we were assigned the project, my husband, youngest son, and I
went out to McDonald ' s one crisp March morning.

It was just our way of sharing special playtime with our son.

We were standing in line, waiting to be served, when all of a sudden
everyone around us began to back away, and then even my husband did.

I did not move an inch... an overwhelming feeling of panic welled up inside
of me as I turned to see why they had moved.

As I turned around I smelled a horrible ' dirty body ' smell, and there
standing behind me were two poor homeless men.

As I looked down at the short gentleman, close to me, he was ' smiling ' .

His beautiful sky blue eyes were full of God ' s Light as he searched for
acceptance.

He said, ' Good day ' as he counted the few coins he had been clutching.

The second man fumbled with his hands as he stood behind his friend. I
realized the second man was mentally challenged and the blue-eyed gentleman was his salvation.

I held my tears as I stood there with them.

The young lady at the counter asked him what they wanted.

He said, ' Coffee is all Miss ' because that was all they could afford. (If
they wanted to sit in the restaurant and warm up, they had to buy
something. He just wanted to be warm).

Then I really felt it - the compulsion was so great I almost reached out
and embraced the little man with the blue eyes.

That is when I noticed all eyes in the restaurant were set on me, judging
my every action.

I smiled and asked the young lady behind the counter to give me two more
breakfast meals on a separate tray.

I then walked around the corner to the table that the men had chosen as a
resting spot. I put the tray on the table and laid my hand on the blue-eyed
gentleman ' s cold hand.

He looked up at me, with tears in his eyes, and said, ' Thank you. '

I leaned over, began to pat his hand and said, ' I did not do this for you.
God is here working through me to give you hope. '

I started to cry as I walked away to join my husband and son. When I sat
down my husband smiled at me and said, ' That is why God gave you to me,
Honey, to give me hope. '

We held hands for a moment and at that time, we knew that only because of
the Grace that we had been given were we able to give.

We are not church goers, but we are believers.

That day showed me the pure Light of God ' s sweet love.

I returned to college, on the last evening of class, with this story in
hand.

I turned in ' my project ' and the instructor read it.

Then she looked up at me and said, ' Can I share this? '

I slowly nodded as she got the attention of the class.

She began to read and that is when I knew that we as human beings and being part of God share this need to heal people and to be healed.

In my own way I had touched the people at McDonald ' s, my son, instructor,
and every soul that shared the classroom on the last night I spent as a college student.

I graduated with one of the biggest lessons I would ever learn:

UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE.

Much love and compassion is sent to each and every person who may read this and learn how to

LOVE PEOPLE AND USE THINGS - NOT LOVE THINGS AND USE PEOPLE.

There is an Angel sent to watch over you.

In order for her to work, you must pass this on to the people you want
watched over.

An Angel wrote:

Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will
leave footprints in your heart..

To handle yourself, use your head.

To handle others, use your heart.

God Gives every bird it ' s food, but He does not throw it into its nest.

AM POSTING IT HERE GALS AND GUYS!!!!

Dear Batchmates - HAVE A BLESSED HOLY WEEK . . .

If you woke up this morning
with more health than illness,
you are more blessed than the
million who won't survive the week.

If you have never experienced
the danger of battle,
the loneliness of imprisonment,
the agony of torture or
the pangs of starvation,
you are ahead of 20 million people
around the world.

If you attend a church meeting
without fear of harassment,
arrest, torture, or death,
you are more blessed than almost
three billion people in the world.

If you have food in your refrigerator,
clothes on your back, a roof over
your head and a place to sleep,
you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank,
in your wallet, and spare change
in a dish someplace, you are among
the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If your parents are still married and alive,
you are very rare,
especially in the United States.

If you hold up your head with a smile
on your face and are truly thankful,
you are blessed because the majority can,
but most do not.

If you can hold someone's hand, hug them
or even touch them on the shoulder,
you are blessed because you can
offer God's healing touch.

If you can read this message,
you are more blessed than over
two billion people in the world
that cannot read anything at all.

You are so blessed in ways
you may never even know.

This blessing will only keep working if it is continuously
passed around. If you are a recipient of a blessing, keep
the blessing working by being the source of blessing to
other people.

Matthew 28:1-11
"Risen in Glory"

BEYOND THE CROSS

Every year thousands of people climb a mountain in the Italian Alps, passing the "stations of the cross" to stand at an outdoor crucifix. One tourist noticed a little trail that led beyond the cross. He fought through the rough thicket and, to his surprise, came upon another shrine, a shrine that symbolized the empty tomb. It was neglected. The brush had grown up around it. Almost everyone had gone as far as the cross, but there they stopped.

How sad that so many stop at the cross. How sad that for so many the story of Jesus ends at the tomb. How sad that they have no idea or concept of Jesus being risen in glory. One such person is Thomas Jefferson. Undoubtedly he was a great man but he could not accept the miraculous. He edited his own special version of the Bible and deleted all references to the supernatural. Jefferson, in his editing, ends the Gospels with these words: "There they laid Jesus and rolled a great stone at the mouth of the grave and went away." He didn't believe, he couldn't believe, in a Jesus Who was risen in glory.

I Jesus Arose
A Thank God that the Gospels do not end Jefferson's way. Thank God that the Gospel story does not end with the despair and heartbreak of Christ's death but rather with the joy and hope of new or renewed life. As the Apostle Paul tells us,
(1Cor 15:20) But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
Or, as the angel told the women,
(Mt 28:6) He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.

B It struck me this past week that no one witnessed the resurrection itself; we have no eye-witness to what went on in the tomb on Easter morning. No one was present in the tomb when Christ's soul was reunited with His body; no one was present in the tomb when Christ's body suddenly came to life again; no one was present in the tomb when Christ's body suddenly materialized outside the burial wrappings; no one was present in the tomb when Christ walked through its wall into the fresh air and early morning sunshine. No one was present to see any of these miraculous happenings. Furthermore, the Spirit of God does not tell us a single detail about the actual resurrection.

So how do we know that Christ has risen in glory? For the Gospel writers the reality of the resurrection is confirmed by the empty tomb and the appearances of Christ to many eye-witnesses: the women, the Emmaus travelers, Peter, John, James, the rest of the Twelve, then a group of 500 believers, and finally the Apostle Paul (cf 1 Cor 15:5-7). As for us, we simply have to accept its reality by faith – after all, ours is not the privilege of seeing either the empty tomb or the risen Lord.

C We are given one detail about Christ's resurrection: "a violent earthquake." If you remember, there was also an earthquake when Christ died. The earth shook and the creation shuddered when the Lord of glory died. At that time, according to Matthew,
(Mt 27:52) The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life.
When the earth shook for the second time in three days we are to assume that again Hades or Sheol gave up its dead; but this time it was the Lord of glory Who was raised to life, raised in glory. And this time the Creation was rejoicing that the human form of its Maker was alive again and raised in glory.

D When we open the Scriptures we see there many people who do not understand or believe the resurrection. Why is that? The resurrection is not understood or believed because many people do not understand Christ's death – namely, that He, though sinless and perfect, had to die in our place and for our sin. And, unless you believe this you also do not believe that Christ had to arise from the grave in glory in order to bring to completion His work as Redeemer. The Apostle Paul puts these two together in one of my favorite verses:
(Rom 4:25) He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.

Peter is a classic example. He did not understand that Christ must die on the cross for his sins. Peter did not understand Christ's purpose or mission here on earth. The Lord tried to tell him once but he replied, "Never Lord! This shall never happen to you" (Mt 16:22). That's why when Peter saw the empty tomb "he went away, wondering to himself what had happened" (Lk 24:12). The empty grave cannot be understood or appreciated until the cross is understood.

So you see, we must understand our need for a Savior before we can understand or believe what happened that first Easter morning. The empty tomb must be viewed from the brow of Golgotha hill; Easter Sunday must be viewed in the light of Good Friday. Only then can we understand that He was raised in glory.

II The Angel
A In the Easter story Matthew tells us about "an angel of the Lord." The last time we have seen a angel of the Lord in Matthew's Gospel is in the story of Christ's birth. At Christ's birth the angel was a messenger from the Lord; he explained to Joseph the meaning of Mary's pregnancy and gave him precise instructions from God: to take Mary home as his wife. We immediately see that the Easter angel too is a messenger from the Lord: he explains the meaning of the empty tomb and gives instructions from God Himself.

B The angel of the Lord went to Jesus' tomb, "rolled back the stone and sat on it" (vs 2). Too many people have thought the angel rolled the stone away so Jesus could get out of the tomb. One of the Easter songs in the blue Psalter Hymnal teaches this:
Angels, roll the rock away;
Death, yield up thy mighty prey;
See, the Savior leaves the tomb,
Glowing with immortal bloom,
Glowing with immortal bloom.
(old P.H. # 359)
But a body that could pass through burial wrappings, a body that could enter the locked room where the disciples were meeting, did not need a stone moved in order to get out of the tomb.

Why, then, did the angel roll the rock away? Not to let the Lord out but to let the women in. God wanted eye-witnesses to the empty tomb! For the empty tomb, together with Christ's appearances, were the proof that "he has risen, just as he said" (vs 6); they were proof that He has been raised in glory.

C Let's take a closer look at the stone rolled back by the angel. At the end of chapter 27 we read that the tomb was made "secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard" (Mt 27:66). Guards were posted to make sure that the stone stayed put. And, the seal was the emperor's seal – a warning that all those who attempted to move the stone were doing so against the emperor's own wishes and would have to face his wrath and judgment.

Yet, what did the angel do? He "rolled back the stone and sat on it" (vs 2). He broke the seal. He ignored the soldiers. And, to add further insult, he sat on the stone as if his was every right to sit there. As for the guards, they were so afraid of the angel "that they shook and became like dead men" (vs 4).

A statement is being made here that there is a power higher than Caesar's. A statement is being made here that there is a power greater than Caesar's. God sent His angel down to break that seal and move that stone and no Caesar or his soldiers could possibly stop him. The eternal purposes of the Lord of lords and the King of kings cannot be in any way thwarted.

D The angel, as I said, is a messenger. What is his message from God?
(Mt 28:5-6) "... you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. (6) He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay."
Jesus is not dead; He lives. He has been raised in glory.

"He has risen, just as he said" (vs 6). Matthew records at least four instances where Jesus prophesied His resurrection (16:21; 17:9,23; 20:17-19; 26:32). Now He has risen, "just as he said." Here we see the Savior's divine foreknowledge of all things. Here we see again that not a Word of the Lord can ever remain unfulfilled. Here we see that God's Word can never be broken: what Jesus says He means; what He promises He does.

"Come and see the place where he lay" (vs 6). The stone was rolled away, as I said earlier, so the women could get in the tomb and see that it was empty. The angel invites them to look into the empty tomb. What do the women see? They see the burial wrappings shaped as if there still was a body inside. Because the head wrapping had been folded up by itself, separate from the other wrappings, they could see that the burial wrappings were empty (Jn 20:6,7). Obviously, Jesus' body was no longer in the tomb. He has been raised in glory.

"Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him'" (vs 7). The two Marys have been favored by God. He has given them fantastic news, news that is too good to keep for themselves, news that must be passed on and shared.

III The Women
A In discussing the angel we have already mentioned the women. Let's now look at them in greater detail.

At the end of chapter 27 we read of what Joseph did: how he took Jesus' body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, placed it in a tomb, rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away. Matthew tells us one more detail: "Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb" (Mt 27:61). What were they doing there? They were watching: they were watching to see what happened to Jesus' body; they were watching to see where Jesus would be buried; they were watching to see if His body would be safe from any further degradation.

On Easter morning we see the two ladies by the tomb again. And again their intent is to watch:
(Mt 28:1) After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
Did you catch that? They went to look at the tomb. Again, their intent is to watch over – to guard and protect – Jesus' body.

B The two Marys come to the tomb to keep watch, and what do they see? They see the open tomb, they see the soldiers frozen with fright, they see the angel sitting on the stone.

This scared the two Marys. Of course they are scared. They are terrified of the angel. Don't forget, if big armed guards are scared of the angel than two women would be scared of him too. And, they are scared that something has happened to Jesus in spite of their efforts to watch over His body.

C After the angel told them the good news about the resurrection of Jesus the women "hurried away from the tomb, afraid, yet filled with joy" (vs Cool. In the Greek language it is clear that theirs is a "great" joy. Yes, they are afraid. But theirs is also a great joy. In fact, their joy is greater than their fear.

Why are the women filled with joy? They rejoice because Jesus is alive. They rejoice that what Jesus prophesied about Himself actually came to pass. They rejoice that Jesus has been raised in glory. They rejoice because theirs is a living Savior and living Lord. The women rejoice because Jesus is completely triumphant over the forces of evil and darkness. The women rejoice because the shackles of death have been broken – not only for Christ but also for all those who believe in Him. The women rejoice because theirs is new life. The women rejoice because Christ's resurrection means the surety of their own future resurrection (1 Cor 15:20). The women rejoice because their faith, their hope, and their love has not been in vain.

How can we learn from the women here? There are Christians with real and serious problems, with large and dreadful burdens. They have every reason to mourn, to be sad, to be filled with gloom and dread. Yet they, with us, also have every reason for joy – great joy! The Savior has risen. He has been raised in glory.
Christ the Lord is risen today. Alleluia!
Sons of men and angels say: Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high. Alleluia!
Sing, ye heav'ns, and earth reply: Alleluia!
(TCH # 367:1)

D The women "ran to tell his disciples" that the Lord has risen in glory! Of course they ran. They were excited, they were happy, they were filled with great joy. They simply had to tell the disciples that Jesus was alive – and they had to tell them this wondrous news as soon as possible.

We can learn from the women here too. Entrusted to us is the good news, the great news, the best news – that Jesus has risen in glory. But how many of us, like the women, are so excited about this news that we can hardly wait to pass it on? Good news – the Good News of the Gospel – is not meant for hoarding; it is meant for sharing. Following the women's example we are to tell others of the risen Lord; like our bulletin cover says we are to be involved in seeking the lost and discipling the found – all for God's glory.

Conclusion
The women have seen one of the proofs of Christ's resurrection: the empty tomb. As they leave the Garden they become witness to the other proof of Christ's resurrection: they meet the risen Lord Himself!

Notice what they do: "They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him" (vs 9). And, when the disciples saw the risen Lord, they also "worshiped" Him (vs 17). Worship is a proper response to the risen Jesus. Worship proclaims Jesus to be Lord and God; it proclaims Him to be King and Savior.

Christ has risen in glory! Alleluia! Let us rejoice. Let us proclaim. Let us worship.

Hello & good day everyone! Kumusta na kayong lahat? As always, I'm hoping that you're all in good health & your whole family members too!

Ramir -> thanks for sharing your nice pics taken in Dubai, as well as with your family. Finally I met you kahit sa picture lang. It seems you're really enjoying & at home na rin diyan sa Dubai, with your family ba? Hindi naman siguro mahirap ang family visa sa Dubai lalo pa nga at matagal ka na rin diyan

Prislette -> hi to you my sweet friend! Happy to read your message here especially the tough decision you've made about your mom. I know it's not that easy, but it's for everybody's safety, especially palagi ngang walang naiiwan sa bahay ninyo. At least sa Nursing home, round-the-clock that she will be well-taken care of especially yung pag-take niya ng medicines. Yes, talagang nakakadurog ng puso ang paghabol niya sa iyo & vice-versa, but sa present situation ninyo diya, that's maybe the best choice that you can make for the meantime. Kaya, you can relax for a while & go on with your normal routine, as well as yung pagdalaw mo na rin sa mom mo. Tama ka, we really don't know what will happen to us when we grow old too, let's just hope for a better health palagi, not only for ourselves but also for our loved ones

Larry -> hello to you my good friend! Alam mo, whenever I open this forumotion of ours, automatic may smile na agad sa face ko, especially that there are new messages for me to read, before I post. Thanks for sharing to us those inspirational thoughts/words to live by & pictures too, which are all really worth posting & reading. For sure, you're resting/relaxing this Holy Week, for you to get back your power & be ready again to face all the busy schedules you will be having next week

To all everybody -> warm regards from me & Roel! Laughing

Thought for the day: Replacing a "put it off" frame of mind with "do it now" attitude is difficult, but the struggle will be repaid a thousandfold. The wisest thing to do is focus on TODAY. We have only today. We only have TODAY to fulfill our purpose in life. But if we concentrate on using every moment well, TODAY is enough. I love you

Perhaps most of you are enjoying the holidays along with your families dyan sa Pinas at sa iba pang parte ng mundo during this Holy Week, at yung iba naman ay meron work due to job commitments. Ang masasabi ko lang ay magrelax relax naman tayo…. Dito sa Dubai ay medyo moderate pa ang climate dito. However, I am also planning a vacation next month dyan sa Pinas…. hopefully I will be seeing some of you if i got a chance!!!! sunny

Larry>>> thanks for the great and very inspiring postings……. I am hoping also to get a CD copy ng mga obra maestro mo especiaaly yung mga kinompos mo ha!!!?? bounce

Freddie>>> Great pictures for a Great man….keep it up!!!!!!!…… Pre, please carry on giving honors to your family and the Filipno people…..It is also a great honor to have a former classmate like you…..keep it up and lead the way!!! Basketball Basketball

Prislette>>> I know it really hurts to keep your Mom in this institution, but if the whole family agrees on this best option then okey na rin. I know what you feel, as a Filipino we were taught to respect and love our parents and the same way we expect our children to do the same for us. Buti na lang naalala mo pa ako sa picture after 31 years ago, madalas ko nga biruin ang mga friends ko na di naman nagbabago mukha ko kasi di ko pinang-aaraw araw.....Ha Ha Ha!!!…About my family? they are now back in the Philippines madali naman makapunta dito basta immediate family members. Very Happy

Letty>>>napakasipag mo naman mag-posting!!!! Ang visit visa dito sa Dubai ay nakapadali, ayun sa statistics ng Immigration Dept. dito, there are about 600 -700 Pinoy ang dumarating dito monthly to look for jobs. Pero mas grabe ang Indians at Pakistani dahil mas marami sila, meron na nga silang quota. Cool

Trifee>>> congrats sa Chess winnings mo, medyo late na ang pagbati ko but I never forget you as my former Chessmate!!! I wish you the best of luck for your next tourney. Sana maging GM ka na, Pre, its not too late.!!!!! Razz

Jaime >>> marami pa bang snow dyan? Alam mo tama yung precaution mo na mag –take it easy when dealings with our parents kasi nga very sensitive na sila sa lahat ng bagay. It is really prevalent to all of us ang problem na ganito. My Mom is 87 years old na pero malakas pa naman and I really thank god Mom for that. Cool

I wish everybody and their families All the Best for Easter!!!!! bounce

Hello Batchmates, PLEASE READ THIS.....VERY TOUCHING......it was e-mailed to me by a friend.......

Huwag MO sana akong pagtatawanan o pagsasawaang pakinggan.
